Arjun reaches World number 4 and India number 1

The July FIDE Rating Lists are out and for the first time, Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi has climbed up to the world number 4 spot! With a published rating of 2778, Arjun is also the current India number 1.
So far in 2024, Arjun has played 70 classical games, and scored 41 wins, 27 draws and just 2 losses. He has also gained 41 rating points in the process.

When Arjun narrowly missed out on the Candidates 2024 spot, it was painful. But it did not affect his love for the game. He took a small break, and came back to the board with fresh energy. The decision to play in Open events, due to lack of much invites, was surprising to the public. Especially when Arjun had a high rating, and could’ve lost them, even with draws. But not only did he play, he also went on to win them, win games and gain a bunch of rating.
Arjun also shared a post on his Instagram talking about how Inner Engineering (IE) and Yoga helped him. He says that he now enjoys the process and does not let the results affect him. And that is how he has managed to produce the good results in recent times!
