The All India Chess Federation announced the Indian team for the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad on Saturday. The Olympiad is scheduled to be held at Budapest, Hungary from 10th to 23rd September 2024. We will be seeing some of country’s finest talents competing at the event. The selection criteria was based on the players’ average classical rating for the months of April, May and June 2024.

In the Open section, Grandmasters Arjun Erigaisi, Gukesh D, Praggnanandhaa R, Vidit Gujrathi and Pentala Harikrishna will be representing the country. Gukesh will also be hoping for this to serve as a preparation for his upcoming World Championship Match in November.
In the Women’s section, Grandmasters Harika Dronavalli and Vaishali R, along with International Masters Divya Deshmukh, Vantika Agrawal and Tania Sachdev will be competing. The team will definitely miss GM Koneru Humpy on the top board. But Tania and Harika’s experience, along with Divya, Vantika and Vaishali’s fighting spirit make us a very strong team!
