The FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships 2025 is scheduled from the June 11-16th. This year, the tournament will be hosted at the Novotel, London West, United Kingdom. The cumulative prize fund for the tournament is 500,000 Euros- 310,000 for the Rapid and 190,000 for the Blitz!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After two successful editions with two podium finishes, Team MGD1 is ready and excited for the third edition of the tournament. Grandmasters Arjun Erigaisi, Pentala Harikrishna, Pranav V and Srinath Narayanan are back in the team. However, we also have some new faces who will be donning the team colors this year- GM Leon Mendonca and GM David Anton Guijarro. IM Tsolakidou Stavroula will be will be replacing GM Harika Dronavalli on the women’s board. On the recreational board, we have Atharva P Tayade fighting it out for the team!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a rating average of 2580, we’re the 5th seed in the Rapid event. We’re also the 5th seed in the Blitz event with a rating average of 2572.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, Team MGD1 is being sponsored by Hariharan Raghavan, an Investor and a chess amateur. He is rated 1656 in Blitz, and 1400 in Rapid! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
